Steelers fans witnessed a horrifying scene during last night’s season-opening matchup against the Tennessee Titans — while trying to recover a blocked field goal in the first half, Steelers safety Troy Polamalu sustained an injury to his left knee, preventing him from playing out the rest of the game. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because Polamalu was featured on the cover of Madden 10 — a promotion that has proven to be troubling for NFL players due to the titular ” Madden curse .” Polamalu is expected to be out for 3 – 6 weeks, making this one of the least severe examples of cosmic retribution dished out by the curse to date.

This is going to have to be one of those cases of style over substance, because even though we know the trailer for Tower of Shadow looks quite pretty, we can’t make out a word of the strange moon man language attached to it. Seriously, what is that, Sanskrit? Barred from informative text, we’re forced to critique the aesthetic choices made in the trailer

If thrashing guitars, zombies and Call of Duty: World at War are all things you enjoy, we have a treat for you! The above trailer for Map Pack 3 , a new set of maps featuring three locales for multiplayer and one zombie-specific map, incorporates all of these things while highlighting the exploits of a group of Russian soldiers fighting off hordes of the undead. Hey guys and gals, have you been keeping up with this Gearbox/ Halo thing ? Yesterday, we heard Gearbox president Randy Pitchford kind of stumble over himself in response to the rumored Halo game. Today, it’s a different story, with the Halo Waypoint Twitter account declaring , ” For the record, Gearbox is NOT working on a Halo title for Microsoft.” Before you start going crazy with cries of, “But, it’s Twitter!” and “It’s probably a fake!” realize that we’ve confirmed with Mircosoft’s Major Nelson that it is, in fact, a legitimate account

This moment brought to you by the letters W, T, and F: After the break, a very special moment made up of three disparate, but equally important, elements: 78-year-old Doris Roberts (that’s Everybody Love’s Raymond’s mom to most of you); the line “Game on!”; and an honest-to-goodness shoryuken (don’t call it an uppercut!). We have the upcoming movie Aliens in the Attic to thank for the existence of this moment. To spare you the pain of watching the entire trailer, we’ve trimmed out the relevant scene from Hulu and tucked it away after the break.
