Portal releases radio patch, tunes in hints of a sequel 01 March 2010 at 8:15 pm by admin

Valve has released a new patch for Portal on Steam, and the patch notes say only that it has “changed radio transmission frequency to comply with federal and state spectrum management regulations.” A curious note, especially since Portal , as a computer game, doesn’t actually transmit anything over the radio. That got the forum train a’moving on the Steam boards, and they eventually discovered that radios have been added to each level of the game which, when carried to the correct spots in each level, will tune in a series of coded messages. Connecting to all (or any, according to some reports) of the 26 messages in the game will supposedly unlock a new hidden achievement called “Transmission Received.” At least, we think so — as of this writing, no one seems to have unlocked it yet.

Oh, sweet controversy! Tongue-in-cheek hack-n’-slash game Fairytale Fights may be the very first console game to reward players for murdering kids , including as it does an Xbox 360 Achievement for killing 1,000 children.

+ Shining Force teaser site is up and teasing By admin 12 April 2009 at 3:00 am and have No Comments

Have any of you youngins out there played the original Shining Force ? It’s that RPG on all those Sega collections that you keep thinking you really should play, but Altered Beast keeps distracting you because you think it really can’t be as bad as you remember it. The entire Shining series is a bit of a roller coaster quality wise, but it seems that Sega is bringing it back again and hopefully it will play more to its roots than recent games in the series

+ Valkyria Chronicles may be getting a sequel By admin 11 April 2009 at 12:00 pm and have No Comments

It is a sad truth, but sometimes great games get overlooked. It’s even sadder when a great game gets overlooked on a system that really needs to be able to say, "Hey, look at this great game!" Such is the case with Valkyria Chronicles on the PS3. The strategy RPG had solid enough sales in Japan, where it has spawned its own anime, but totally flopped in Europe and North America
